Tax Benefits For Mental Disabilities

Mental disabilities is a serious condition and individuals having issues with mental disabilities can claim disability tax benefits from the government. Mental disabilities is a broad term encompassing a variety of mental conditions that hamper an individual’s cognitive and information processing abilities and can be a huge setback to normal growth and development. Learning disabilities that are too mild are sometimes not classified as mental disabilities and the term is usually reserved for more serious cases. Mental disabilities can be either congenital or inflicted later by injury or accident. Earlier, mental disabilities were defined as having an IQ of below 70, but now we know better and IQ is not the only yardstick to measure intelligence. There many other signs and symptons and mere IQ does not suffice to classify the condition of a mental disability.

Congenital mental disabilities can be detected early in children. They may be slow learners and their physical and mental development may be slower. They will take longer to learn how to walk and talk and may have difficulties in speech, memory, thinking and problem solving, adaptive behaviors, motor skills and social skills. They will have difficulties in doing things on their own and will require supervision seven for simple things like dressing and eating. But in some cases, the individuals may develop enough to support themselves and will even be employed and live independently.

Causes of mental disabilities can be many – genetics, birth complications, radioactive poisoning, effects of pollutants and toxins, lack of nutrition, physical or mental trauma, etc. Management of the condition may differ from case to case depending on the severity. An IQ of around forty is considered moderate mental disabilities and anything below that is serious disabilities and will require extensive care and attention and such individuals can’t fend for themselves. A serious misconception about the mentally challenged is that they have some sort of hidden super-talent, know as savant skills. This is wrong and people need to be better informed.

Fortunately, the Canada Disability Corporation (www.canadadisability.ca) will help those suffering from mental disabilities get disability tax benefits from the Canadian government. Lots of disadvantaged people are unaware that they are entitled to disability tax credits owing to their unfortunate condition and hence miss out on the benefits. If you have a disability, the Canadian Disability Tax Specialists can help you.

This is just a few of the disabilities that qualify. If you believe that you have a disability fill out the form below to find out if you qualify!

"I wish everyone could know how CDTS has saved me. Sometimes you don’t believe good things can happen. I was wrong; I had never seen a company do so much for me for so little.

Thank you again and again"

David. N. – Oshawa, ON

“As a family we must express our deepest thanks to you for helping us claim our disability tax rebate. Your expertise and professionalism made the procedure ever so simple and understandable. I will recommend you too many!”

Esther S. – St.Catherines, ON

“CDTS has changed the life for both my child and I. Raising a child with autism is not easy and can be very expensive. With my current income, I could not afford some of the courses, and workshops necessary to educate myself on my son’s disability. But with the help and professionalism of CDTS, I was able to get the money I needed to help educate myself on my son’s disability and put him in programs that help develop his skills. “

Fran E. – Guelph, ON

“I’m going to explain why I am so grateful to the CDTS and all that they have done.“

Being diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, I have been fired from jobs continuously. I didn’t have very much money because of the loss of jobs; I couldn’t sit at my desks for more than twenty minutes without having to go to the bathroom. I was really in a bad situation with nowhere to turn, until someone introduced me to CDTS. With the help of CDTS, I was able to receive the money I deserved and they did everything, they were so professional even though I was embarrassed about my disability, they made me feel as if it was nothing.”
